Here are some helpful tips when shopping from electronic devices this holiday season

  •  Fake Ads – Holiday shopping brings a rise in fake ads being published for “trendy” or “viral” products on social media. Often, these ads require you to leave the social media site to a malicious website immediately, prompting for your credit card or banking information. Attackers attempt to make this process as fast as possible to catch you off-guard.
  • “Too Good to Be True” Deals It probably is. – Be aware of deals that seem too good to be true. Scammers often publish a popular product on a fake site at a crazy price to gather your financial information.
  • Trusted Sites AND Trusted Sellers – We all are familiar with Amazon, Target, and Walmart, but not every item on their website is sold by them. All of these sites allow third-party sellers to use their websites. These sites provide secure purchasing methods but cannot guarantee that the products are legitimate or priced appropriately. Be aware of the seller you are purchasing from on popular sites. You can often use filters to remove the third-party options.
  • Protect Your Bank and Debit Card Information With the SecurLock Equip app – Download the SecurLock Equip app to monitor your debit card activity with real-time transaction alerts. Its free and easy to use from your mobile device.

Proposed IRS Reporting Mandates

We care about you, your finances, and your account with State Bank; so we want to let you know about a concerning proposal taking shape in Washington. If passed, the proposal would require financial institutions like ours to report the inflows and outflows on personal and business accounts to the IRS. A New and Improved State Bank Mobile Banking App is Now Available

State Bank’s new and improved Mobile Banking App is now available! Our upgraded App provides you with the same features you love today, but in an updated, easy-to-use design. Some of the new features include:

  • Improved experience and interface
  • Ability to reveal a typed passcode on the screen
  • Multifactor authentication that matches Online Banking for added security
  • Ability to schedule fixed recurring transfers
  • Customizable fields for transactions details to track spending
  • Face ID biometrics added to the Android app
  • Custom greeting screen with your name at login

iPhone users: The next time you launch the State Bank iPhone app, the new app will automatically replace the old version if you have automatic updates enabled. Otherwise, you will need to go to the Apple App Store to manually update the app. The first time you login to the new app you will also be presented with new Terms & Conditions to review and accept.

Android users: Android users will be required to remove the old application and download the new version from the Google Play Store once it’s available. You will be presented with new Terms & Conditions in order to use the newest Android application. Users who attempt to access the old application will receive the following message: “Our Mobile Banking solution has changed. Please check our website for more information”.

Face ID/Touch ID: If you currently use Face ID or Touch ID to login in, the first time you open the new app you will have to use your Access ID and Passcode. After your app is updated, you will be able to set up your Touch ID or Face ID again to resume using this convenient and secure way to access your mobile banking. We apologize for any inconvenience.

SMS/Text users: The number you use to send and receive SMS messages will change on June 8th. You will be required to re-enroll in the service due to laws that require a manual opt-in to receive messages from a new number. Enrollment in SMS/text banking is done through your online banking account and does not require the mobile app.
